Become a Winner in Life
Become a winner in life. Don’t settle for less than the very best. No matter what you set out to be, do or have in life, always strive to make it the best. The world is telling you to shrink or play small.
But ignore them. Go all out and win. Win now. Win tomorrow. Always seek to win.
“Winning is a habit. Unfortunately so is losing” ~ Vince Lombardi
Here’s why you want to focus on becoming a winner. When a person settles for less than they can be then they always end up miserable.
At work, they’ll usually end up in a position where they have to answer to someone less passionate and competent than they are.
That’s a frustrating place to be in.
But when that same person makes a decision to excel in their chosen field of endeavor the tide turns.
Their situation improves rapidly and they even begin to steadily pass many of the other people within the organization.
Contrast that scenario with one in which a person walks in the door with a winning mindset. This person aims for the top position from day one.
And because they know what they want they move to the top quickly with few setbacks.
Winning is actually simple. It’s a very straightforward process. It’s the losing mindset that causes the complications in life.
In order to win, identify your target. Make a plan that will get you there.
Take consistent action. And make adjustments until you have what you want. In most cases you’ll face little or no competition.
In actuality you’re only competing against yourself.
There really is no one else. Simply seek to constantly beat your best.
That way you grow everyday.
Never lose sight of this fact. It doesn’t matter what other people do. It only l matters what you do.
Winning requires that you become better today at your craft than you were yesterday. There’s no solace in staying the same.
When you stay the same you actually go backwards. It’s hard to see this because staying the same is so comfortable.
Being satisfied with the status quo puts you in the comfort zone. Once you’re in the comfort zone you’re stuck. Improvement stops.
This stagnation erodes your skills as excellence is replaced with mediocrity.
To coin a popular phrase, “if you don’t use it you’ll lose it.”
When you get comfortable missing your work habit goals then losing becomes a habit.
In order to win you must pay attention to who you associate with.Your associations play a huge role in your success. Show me your friends and I'll show you your future. Guard your associations closely.
Do the people you spend your time with have the same drive that you do? Are they in the hunt? Are they striving to get better at what they do?
If not, they are influencing you in a negative way.
I’m not saying you cannot spend time with them. I’m just saying you’ll have to limit your time with them.
Make winning an obsession in your life.
Become a winner and reap the benefits:
If you are going to play a game then you should always strive to win. The whole point is to compete and win. Why would you just go through the motions?
By the same token, why let the years go rolling by while you simply stay the same? Remember, staying the same is the same as moving backwards. There’s no such thing as staying the same.
Can you imagine a Super Bowl Championship team aiming to stay exactly the same in order to repeat as champions the next year?
Do you think they would go back to the title game and win it all again with that exact same team? No they wouldn’t. Because that same team would not be good enough the next year.
That team has to get better in order to repeat as Champions.
Very few championship teams win another championship the following year. Why? Because the competition is more inspired to get better than they are.
The champion stays the same while the competition gets better. So the competition wins and the champion eventually loses.
In life we have to get better just to maintain much of our happiness. We are goal striving beings naturally.
And we aren’t truly happy unless we are progressing. Getting better and improving areas of our lives is what makes us happy.
Become a winner because the benefits far outweigh the losses.
